New Member Spotlight: Anna Eggemeyer

Anna3This month, we welcome new member Anna Eggemeyer. She has been at the university for almost eight years, and is the editorial assistant for Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, a journal published by the Romance Languages department. She also recently became the administrative coordinator for the new Latin American Studies Program.

What’s your favorite book?

We the Living by Ayn Rand (her first novel). I don’t necessarily agree with Rand’s political philosophy, but I appreciate the determination, strength and uncompromising faith that the female protagonist of this novel has in herself. Kira is one of my greatest role models!

What is your favorite movie to watch when you’re feeling blue?

Pride and Prejudice (the BBC miniseries version with Colin Firth)!

What made you decide to join Toastmasters?

I’ve always enjoyed creative writing and can express myself well enough with time to think about what I want to convey. I hope to gain the confidence to speak well before a crowd and to get my point across, even in a situation that may require impromptu clarity.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, and spelunking!

Tell me something not many people know about you.

I am a fan of live musical theater and act occasionally. One of my favorite experiences has been participating in a local production of Carrie: The Musical!
